Issues

The Port of Saint-Malo addresses the growing need to establish a comprehensive environmental monitoring system on its port concession. The primary goal is to assess in real-time the environmental impacts and emissions generated by port and surrounding activities.

SOLUTION

To address these challenges, four WT1 Pro measurement stations from Ellona were installed near key emission sources in the port area. A connected weather station and a plume dispersion tool were integrated, allowing for continuous and real-time assessment of the port’s environmental impacts. The staff of Edeis Ports Saint-Malo / Cancale received training on using the software solutions, including access to an API for retrieving air quality and meteorological measurement data.

KEY RESULTS

This advanced technological deployment offers several benefits:

  • Continuous monitoring of activities around the port, allowing for enhanced responsiveness to critical situations.
  • Precise identification of major emission sources exceeding regulatory thresholds, particularly concerning H₂S and PM10.
  • Dynamic and continuous visualization of odor and/or pollutant plumes, facilitating rapid and targeted intervention.
  • Retrospective analysis of past episodes for thorough evaluation and effective correlation with neighborhood reports.
  • Rapid assessment of the effectiveness of measures and actions implemented to reduce pollution levels at the source, supporting proactive and responsible port environmental management.

By integrating these cutting-edge technologies, the Port of Saint-Malo strengthens its commitment to environmental sustainability while improving the quality of life for local communities.
