Issues

A shrimp aquaculture company based in Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province, China, sought to control gas and odor emissions to minimize the impact on neighboring areas and meet local Environmental Protection Agency requirements. This included monitoring gases and odors from wastewater tanks, as well as improving process management for increased efficiency.

SOLUTION

Ellona proposed and deployed a comprehensive solution based on WT1 Pro sensors:

  • WT1 Pro sensor network: Equipped with 4 MOS sensors for odors, as well as sensors for hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), ammonia (NH₃), volatile organic compounds (PID), particulate matter (PM), external humidity, and external temperature.
  • Real-time monitoring: Continuous measurement of gases such as H₂S and ammonia, as well as the intensity and identification of odors, enabling precise localization of odor sources.
  • Time-series analysis: Utilization of data analysis techniques to compare odor fingerprints over time, facilitating the identification and optimization of pollution sources.

KEY RESULTS

The deployment of the WT1 Pro network allowed for:

  • Real-time measurement of gas levels such as H₂S and ammonia, as well as the intensity and quality of odors.
  • Precise identification of odor sources throughout the aquaculture process.
  • Optimization of processes to reduce gas and odor emissions, thus minimizing environmental impact and associated energy costs for filling and emptying tanks.

This solution not only enabled the aquaculture company to comply with local environmental standards but also effectively improved its practices for a cleaner and more sustainable working environment in Yangjiang City.
