Issues
In an industrial area near Renkum, Netherlands, a paper production facility faced significant challenges related to odor emissions, impacting the well-being of nearby communities and requiring an effective response. The company expressed an urgent need to deploy advanced monitoring devices to address these concerns. Ellona, known for its expertise in advanced environmental monitoring solutions, was chosen for its ability to provide and implement highly specialized odor monitoring systems. Leveraging its experience and innovative technologies, Ellona was well-positioned to meet the specific requirements of the paper industry in Renkum, ensuring continuous and precise monitoring of odor emissions.
SOLUTION
Ellona recommended and implemented a network of 10 WT1 Pro odor monitoring systems, strategically positioned around the Renkum industrial site. Each WT1 Pro unit was equipped with specialized sensors, including MOS sensors, as well as sensors for hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), ammonia (NH₃), and volatile organic compounds (PID), enabling precise and comprehensive detection and identification of odor sources.
To ensure the system’s continued reliability, Ellona provided on-site initial training using advanced dynamic olfactometry techniques. This approach guarantees not only precise calibration of the sensors but also proactive real-time management of odor emissions.
KEY RESULTS
For this facility, Ellona’s deployment of the WT1 Pro odor monitoring network proved to be an extremely beneficial strategic initiative. This solution allowed them to transform their approach to odor emission management, bringing tangible and lasting benefits to their operations.
The WT1 Pro units provided continuous and real-time monitoring of odor profiles, enabling proactive management of emissions throughout the day.
This constant monitoring capability not only allowed for immediate responsiveness to emission variations but also facilitated ongoing optimization of industrial processes to reduce environmental impacts.
The specialized sensors integrated into the WT1 Pro played a crucial role in accurately identifying odor sources. By analyzing the data collected through EllonaSoft, the team was able to precisely locate specific emission points, thereby facilitating the implementation of targeted corrective measures.
This approach significantly reduced community complaints and improved the satisfaction of local residents with the industrial operations.
Ellona’s advanced solution enabled in-depth analysis of the collected data, providing essential insights for proactive odor event management. By integrating advanced visualization and reporting tools, Ellona optimized odor monitoring, contributing to enhanced regulatory compliance and improved public perception of the company.
These results demonstrate the effectiveness and positive impact of Ellona’s advanced monitoring solutions in the sustainable management of industrial odor emissions.
